Good evening, Eagle Families! Happy Saint Patrick's Day! This is Principal McGeachy with just a few updates for the upcoming week and beyond: First, this is a quick reminder for families with legal residence in Edgecombe County. As you recall, rising 10th -13th-grade scholars at the Early College who reside in Edgecombe County must complete the legacy opt-in request by March 22nd to remain enrolled in our school. Again, this only applies to those scholars whose residence is in Edgecombe County. If you have questions or need clarification, please contact the school and speak with our data manager, Mrs. Godwin. Our Global Scholars will participate in a Global Fair with NCC on March 25th. The Fair will feature international foods, dancing, and other cultural activities. Mark your calendars for March 26th. On this date, our scholars involved with the Peer Group Connection (PGC) mentoring program will have an evening of activities and information sharing for families from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Now that some warmer temperatures have started to arrive, I would like to provide a gentle reminder about adhering to the Nash County Public Schools dress code policy. Scholars who are in violation will be given the opportunity to have a change of clothes brought to school or potentially face a disciplinary consequence. As always, thanks for your support. Please visit our web page for updated information about our school. Enjoy the rest of your evening!

This will be a short week for our scholars because Friday, March 15th, is a Mandatory Teacher Work Day, and there will be no school for scholars: First, on Tuesday, our Student Government Association will host its annual talent show, and scholars who have chosen to perform will have an opportunity to share their talents. Funds generated from ticket sales will be used to fund our prom and various community service projects. The ACT make-up test will also be administered on Tuesday for those scholars who were unable to take the test on the initial date. On Wednesday, our Super Seniors will host a Waffle Fundraiser in the Nash Community College Café to generate funds for their end-of-year trip. Our math teachers are sure to have something special in store for our scholars. Also on Thursday, representatives from Barton College will be on campus to meet with our scholars and share information about the college. Good evening, Eagle Families! This is Principal McGeachy with the first update in March! Believe it or not, only 45 instructional days are left before we begin EOC testing and end-of-semester exams! Here are this week’s updates: First, I want to share that your efforts to support our National Honor Society fundraiser at Zaxby’s last week are greatly appreciated! Our scholars were presented with a check for $450! Again, we appreciate the support of our Eagle families and community stakeholders. Scholars enrolled in Math 1 and Math 3 will take their benchmark assessments this week. The Math 3 check-in will be on Tuesday, and the Math 1 check-in will be on Wednesday. On Tuesday, we will have our National Honor Society induction ceremony and Soaring Through the Center ceremony for selected scholars at 5:30 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium. On Thursday, our junior scholars will be visiting N.C. State University to learn about the academic opportunities available on the Wolfpack campus. On Friday, we will hold our Black History Month/Women’s History Month Program at 10:00 a.m. in the Brown Auditorium. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Shanta’ Hinton. Dr. Hinton is a graduate of Nash County Public Schools and currently serves as a Professor of Biology at the College of William and Mary. Lastly, report cards will be available in PowerSchool on Friday, March 8th.
