Good Evening Bulldogs and Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season! Students will return to school tomorrow, and we’re excited to welcome them back. Parents, please be sure to check the district’s calendar as this month includes several teacher workdays when students will not be in school. This Friday is our monthly PBIS Hat Day! Students can wear a hat with a $1 donation, which helps fund our PBIS celebrations and incentives. Please note that the grading period ends on January 16th, and teacher workdays will follow from January 17th through the 22nd. Report cards will be issued on January 24th, and that will also be our next scheduled awards day. Teachers will be sending home notes with students who will be receiving an award on this day. As we enter the January/February mid-year period, administration is requiring all staff to reach out to parents to schedule a meeting to discuss your child’s academic progress. Please keep an eye out for further details from your child’s teacher. Last but not least, if your child is a car rider, we will be having our Fast Pass tickets available starting Monday afternoon with a $1 donation per ticket to the school. We will draw out 5 winners this upcoming Friday after school. Fast pass winners will not have to sit in line, their child will be brought out to their cars at 3:00pm. Thank you for your continued support! It is a great time to be a Bulldog.

Good morning bulldog families! As we approach the holiday season, I kindly ask for your help in ensuring all library books are returned before Christmas break so that we can prepare for the new year! Please check with your child to see if they have any library books at home, and remind them to bring them back to school. Thank you for your support in keeping our library stocked and ready for learning!

Good Evening Bulldogs, WOW! Just one more week, 5 school days left in the 2024 calendar school year. I can not believe it. This year is zooming by! Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the first and second-grade performances last week, but I’ve heard wonderful things about how amazing they were. I’m incredibly proud of our students and staff for their hard work and the bravery they showed by performing in front of such a large audience. Tomorrow night, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, Mrs. Beasley will be presenting to our Spanish speaking parents in the library on data, assessments, and how to utilize ROOMS with fidelity. We will have pizza for our families who attend. Again, this is for our Spanish speaking families only. This Thursday, our fifth graders who participated in DARE (through the Nash County Sheriff’s Department) will have their graduation starting at 1:30pm in the gym. It was originally scheduled for the morning, but it had to be changed to 1:30pm. We would love to have our 5th grade parents come out and support our students. This week, our students will participate in classroom celebrations, and we’ll have a schoolwide singalong on Friday. If your child is unable to take part in Christmas activities, please inform their teacher. We want to ensure everyone’s beliefs and preferences are respected. Lastly, please remember that students may dress up this week if they would like to help kick off the holiday season: Monday- Team Santa (wear red) vs. Grinch (wear green) Tuesday- Shine Bright... wear something with lights Wednesday- Tacky Sweater Thursday- Pre-K: Elves, K: Presents, 1st: Snowmen, 2nd: Trees, 3rd: Gingerbread, 4th: Grinch- Whoville, 5th: Reindeer Friday- Pajama Day I look forward to a wonderful week. Please note that after this week, students will be out starting December 23rd and students will return to school Monday, January 6th. I hope everyone has a great evening.

Good Evening Bulldogs, We only have 10 more school days before our next long break including early release this week on Wednesday. Parents, please remember this Wednesday our students get out 2 hours early, which is 1:00pm. This Thursday our 1st and 2nd graders have their performance starting at 6pm. We ask that all students are at school by 5:45pm. Our students last day of school before Winter break is Friday, December 20th. This day is a full day. Our students will return from break on Monday, January 6th. Please make sure to check January’s calendar as it is unique this year with the end of the first semester and high school testing being mid-January instead of the end of December like years in the past. This is causing all schools to have workdays mid-January. I hope everyone has a great evening.

Good afternoon bulldog families! This is a reminder that this Friday, December 6 is Hat Day at Coopers Elementary! For just a $1.00 donation, your child can wear their favorite hat and help support our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Team. Funds raised go directly towards exciting student incentives and celebrations here on campus, like our CHAMPS Store that is now open and quite the spot to spend those Rooms points! So far this year, we have raised $471.00 with our two hat days! This is amazing! This Friday, let's try to add another $200.00 to that total, bulldogs! Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff.

Good Evening Bulldogs, I hope each and everyone one of you have enjoyed this long Thanksgiving Break. I know I sure did. My family spent the holiday relaxing, eating good food, fellowshipping, and hunting. Now, it is time to get back to business. We only have 15 school days before the next holiday break. We need to stay focus and work hard each and every day so that we can all be successful at the end of the school year! This week our 4th and 5th grade students will take the Panorama Survey. Parents, please reach out to the school before Monday afternoon if you do not want your child to take the survey. It is a generic survey about the school and it does not use students’ names on the survey, it is anonymous. This is a district survey. This week, First Priority is starting back up for our students who want to participate. It will be every Wednesday from here until the end of the school year on Wednesday mornings starting at 7:20am in the library. Last but not least, our Spelling Bee is this Friday. More information will be sent home with the students who will be participating. Good luck to all of our classroom winners! Again, I hope everyone had a wonderful break and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning. Stay warm and take care.

Good Evening Bulldogs, I hope everyone has had a restful weekend and that our students are ready to get back to learning. This week a dental bus will be on site for the parents who opted their children in to have their teeth checked. This will take place during the students’ enhancement time and not their CORE instruction. This week, on Tuesday, we also have our Candyman Main Event. Students who sold enough items will be able to attend. Please make sure students wear comfortable clothing this day. Also, on Tuesday, our Candyman items will be delivered to school. Parents, please come to the school to pick up your child’s Candyman order between the times of 3:30-5:30pm on Tuesday. Please report straight to the gym. We ask that parents try their absolute best to pick up Candyman orders during this timeframe because the Nash County Parks and Rec uses our gym nightly. We do not want orders to get mixed up or go missing. If you have a child that is a car rider, please swing by the gym and pick the order up before leaving campus. You will receive a copy of the order form so grandparents or whoever is in the carline can pick up the items for you. Last but not least, this is a reminder that our students attend school all of this week and then two days the following week. Students are out for the holiday starting on Wednesday November 27th. I hope everyone has a wonderful evening and I look forward to seeing everyone in the morning.

On Tuesday, November 12, our fourth and fifth grade teachers and students proudly hosted a heartfelt Veterans Day breakfast in the Media Center. Parent volunteers, staff, and students welcomed and served our cherished veterans with warmth and gratitude. The room buzzed with excitement as stories of service were shared and connections deepened, making our veterans feel celebrated and appreciated. The morning began with a warm welcome from a fourth grade student, Eden White, followed by a thoughtful blessing over the food by fifth grade student leader Carter Jenkins. Throughout the event, veterans exchanged stories with one another and with the eager fourth and fifth grade students in attendance, fostering meaningful conversations and connections. Fifth graders Kamryn Harris and Aryana Rivera closed the breakfast with a touching poem and closing remarks. As a special tribute, Mrs. Lora Pittman, our Media Coordinator, and Mrs. Lisa Taylor, our Music Teacher, sang “God Bless the USA,” filling the room with pride as our veterans began their Honor Walk through the hallways of Coopers Elementary. It was a truly moving moment as students of all ages lined the halls, waving American flags and cheering on our heroes. The Honor Walk was a sight to behold, filled with respect, gratitude, and joy. The day concluded with a group photo capturing this unforgettable celebration of service and sacrifice. Thank you to all who made this event possible and to the veterans who inspire us daily. You are deeply appreciated and forever honored at Coopers Elementary! To view the video highlighting this precious event, click here: https://shorturl.at/3UQsC

We are thrilled to share the success of our Pinktober Event that was held during the week of October 14 to support breast cancer awareness. Our amazing bulldog students showed their spirit and support by participating in a PINK OUT event to start the week! Mrs. Adkins ACE Club students led a special fundraiser later in the week where students had the chance to purchase blow pops for $1.00. To top it off, students donned their favorite hats on Friday with a $1.00 donation to the cause. Thanks to the incredible generosity and enthusiasm of our bulldog family, we raised $1,113.36! Mrs. Adkins and her ACE Club proudly presented the funds to Ms. Magan Smith from the foundation. Ms. Smith shared that the donation would help purchase a heated massage chair for cancer patients to use while receiving their infusions - a small comfort to bring warmth and relief during a challenging time. We are deeply touched and grateful for all the support from our families. Thank you for making a difference!

Pinktober Success!
Coopers Elementary thanks you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. Nash County Public Schools values input from our community – and we need to hear from your child or children! Students are important partners as we work to improve our communication, academic program and overall experience for everyone through our district strategic plan. In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we will be asking for your child’s feedback via an online survey they will be completing at school between December 2 - 13th. The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. We are asking that all of our students in grades 4 and up participate in the surveys, as their feedback will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt to better meet their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. We are not using student names so surveys will be anonymous. We are partnering with a third-party vendor to support us in administering these surveys. The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on School Climate, Teacher-Student Relationships, School Safety, and expectations. Surveys are available for preview on the district’s website. LINK TO QUESTIONS-> https://www.ncpschools.net/article/1876919 Please notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the surveys by contacting the school at (252)937-9035 no later than November 25. Thank you for your support of Coopers Elementary.
