Englewood Elementary School - Parent Involvement Policy
Our school is committed to provide each student with the tools needed to be successful in life. We understand that our families, school staff and community work together to make this happen. This policy shows how we plan to accomplish this task.
-
Annual Title I Public Meeting
Englewood Elementary School will host an annual public meeting for all parents and staff members. This meeting is to inform parents about their rights under the law and to provide them with the information that will allow them to be fully active in their child’s education. This meeting will be held in conjunction with grade level curriculum nights. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm. This meeting will also provide parents an opportunity to review the School-Parent-Student Compact, as well as other Parental Involvement documents. PTA will also be involved in this evening to encourage parental involvement. An additional Curriculum Night will take place during the second semester of the 2024 - 2025 school year.
-
Flexible Meetings
Each parent meeting will be held at two different times to make it more convenient for parents to attend. The information shared at the Annual Public meeting, on September 10, 2024, will also be shared with parents of new students as they enroll. In addition, we encourage parents to have parent teacher conferences throughout the year to ensure that parents and students are understanding how their students are progressing. Parents can request additional meetings with staff and administration at any point during the school year.
-
Involving Parents in an Organized, Ongoing, and Timely Way
Progress reports will be provided to parents three times during each quarter. Successful Innovations (Si4) parenting education sessions will also be conducted throughout the school year to share ways to assist parents and teachers to work together as partners. Parents will be asked for their suggestions or recommendations at all meetings. Parents will be encouraged to also join our school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for Englewood Elementary School.
-
Timely Information
Parents will receive information on a regular basis through Tuesday folders, parent newsletters in paper form, as well as posted in Rooms on Apptegy. Parents’ questions and concerns will be addressed at any time questions are addressed, as well as at Curriculum Nights.
-
Opportunities for Regular Meetings
Parent meetings will be held throughout the year (once each semester) which gives parents a chance to be actively involved in their child’s education. Parent conferences are also scheduled at a time available to parents. Parents also can request other meetings as needed. Parents are given a chance to give feedback on a quarterly and annual basis.
-
Providing for Parent Comments
The parent policy is reviewed throughout the year and any concerns will be submitted to the district office. Parents will be asked for their comments and suggestions regarding the compact as well. An annual survey of parent/school issues will be conducted.
-
School-Parent-Student Compact
The School-Parent-Student Compact is developed and/or reviewed at the annual meeting, and reviewed at each parent meeting. Parents are asked for comments regarding the compact. A roster of signed compacts is filed in each teacher’s room, as well as placed in our Title I documents.
